Winter Hair Care: Naturally Silk Elements

It’s winter now, and for a lot of us curly girls, that means colder, drier air and a major loss of moisture for our hair. Any combing, brushing and detangling can be brutal on the hair and if it isn’t properly moisturized, then these actions can be even more damaging. We’ve got to take care of our hair ladies!

On one of my many trips to Sally Beauty Supply, I saw this (new to me) hair care line that I thought I’d try.  So I decided to pick up the Naturally Silk Elements Moisture Renewal Kit and the Naturally Silk Elements Cleansing Co-Wash.  And better yet, these products were buy one, get one free for Sally Beauty club members.

It wasn’t long after getting home that I realized that maybe I should have purchased more, especially with the amazing deal that they were having so I went back for the leave-in conditioner cream and the curl defining pudding.

I waited until I had enough time to do the whole wash day routine, which in some cases, can mean a few hours to do everything properly. Before I got in the shower, I sectioned my hair off in 4 parts and applied the pre-treatment oil (step 1), paying close attention to my scalp, edges and ends. After I distributed it through my hair, I got in the shower and applied the conditioning co-wash to my wet hair.  I added this step before the second step, just to make sure my hair was clean before I used the conditioner. So once I rinsed the co-wash out with warm water, then used the deep nourishing conditioner (step 2), I left it in for about 5 minutes..adequate leg shaving time, and then finger detangled before I rinsed that out to lessen any pulling or tearing when I style.

The third step, the intense repair serum is used throughout the hair after it’s all washed and conditioned and you’re getting getting ready to style with products.

The easiest style for me is a wash and go. If time allows then I just let my hair air dry. If pressed for time, then I’ll blow dry with a diffuser. So to successfully achieve this style, I still sprayed my aloe vera juice/water/various oils through my hair and then applied coconut oil as well. That will always be a part of my routine. I have seen major growth since this time last year and I’m not about to mess with a good thing.

Next, I used the Naturally Silk Elements Leave-in Conditioner Cream and Naturally Silk Elements Curl Defining Pudding. When everything was evenly distributed through my hair, I used my handy dandy Denman brush to detangle and define my curls. I wrote about this brush in a previous post and it has really been a game changer.

I am really happy with all of these products. I’m always on the hunt for products that do well for my hair. Big points for products that also smell good and seem worth the money. I could see a difference in the softness of my hair and the ease of detangling.  I will definitely be repurchasing these products and picking up a few more from this wonderful hair care line. Please let me know if you purchase and use any of the products. I would love to hear from you in the comments or even Instagram and Twitter @naturallykrich.
