Regaining Focus

I woke up early this morning, made some coffee and sat down to write. I’m ready to write before the day makes for a world of excuses. I’m ready to write because I finally feel some peace now that I’m on a break from my job and I can focus on my blog.

I’ve had some major writer’s block and that’s why I haven’t posted in a couple of months. When I relaunched my blog as Naturally K. Rich, I had a very clear vision: write about natural hair and makeup tips, my fitness journey and recipes. I wrote about all of that and then some, but then the struggle to come up with more ideas came at me and I didn’t know what to write about.

hey, you! save the date!

Then as this week was wrapping up, the school year was coming to an end (I work at a school), I decided that this is a perfect time to refocus and come back and write about any and everything, including, but certainly not limited to, the things I used to write about before. I’m still very much passionate about natural hair and helping others as they start or continue on their hair journeys. I’m still all about trying and reviewing beauty products, skincare and my endless struggle to get my fitness routine in check.

BUT I also want to post random songs that I love and books or articles that I’m reading and whatever else that piques my interest. The posts, don’t have to be super long (like this one) but a little something on a more consistent basis is better than nothing at all. Besides just thinking about external beauty, I need to balance that out with beauty that is internal and that has nothing to do with the best primer or learning how to contour…even though I’m still on the hunt for the best primer for this oily skin of mine.

So with all of that said, I really hope that all of my followers are still here with me. I know the internet and all the social media platforms make for attention that only lasts if we keep ourselves there, if you’re out of sight, then you’re out of mind and I’m hoping to regain my focus and that you’re here to see what is to come.
Thank you for reading,

Girl! This was wonderfully written and it is exactly the same thing I went through a month ago. I even thought to myself “Is this what I should be doing? What if this block means that this isn’t my passion?” Then I realized that this is a normal thing. It happens. But refocusing is key. Keep pushing, and thanks for sharing your stories!

Yes, exactly! I was thinking, “I’ve wanted to be a writer my whole life and if I’m not being consistent with it, does it mean I’m not good at it?” But that isn’t it at all, like you said, it’s about refocusing. Keep up with it girl!!

I sorta just stumbled across your page but I’m so glad I did! Love the way you write and I completely agree – do what you love. Such a relatable post but we have to keep pushing for our passions. I can already tell that I’m going to love this blog, well done! 🙂

I’m so sorry that I’m just getting back to you. I’ve been doing some redesigning and didn’t see this comment. Thank you so much for your kind words. I’ve realized that there is an audience for everything. I have to just keep going. I hope you do too! Thanks again.
